Australia's national science agency, CSIRO,
is a powerhouse of ideas, technologies and skills for building prosperity,
growth, health and sustainability. It serves governments, industries,
business and communities across the nation.
CSIRO Manufacturing
and Infrastructure Technology works
with Australian and global manufacturing and infrastructure industries
to develop and commercialise innovative materials, processes, and
products. They have extensive expertise in die casting technology,
design and prototyping, tooling technology, magnesium smelter casthouse
technology and alloy development. CSIRO Mathematical and Information Sciences
applies research in information technology, mathematics and statistics
to solve problems and develop innovative technologies in many industry
sectors. The Division has a strong reputation in mathematical modelling
of heat and fluid flow as well as excellent skills in industrial
statistics.
Deakin
University
Deakin University
strives to produce highly employable graduates and research of the
highest possible quality in areas of strategic importance. In both
its teaching and research the University has forged strong links
with governments, with business, industry and the professions. Deakin
University's School
of Engineering and Technology conducts materials manufacturing
and performance research, a University Research Priority area. The
Metals Manufacturing and Performance research group is involved
in projects related to the in service performance of materials,
addressing the tensile behaviour, fatigue and fracture, corrosion
and wear. The
University’s location in Geelong is particularly attractive to one
of the core industry partners of CAST, Ford Australia.
Industrial
Research Institute Swinburne (IRIS)
Swinburne
University of Technology, has a strong
reputation in Australia and overseas as a provider of career orientated
education and as a university with a commitment to research. The University maintains
a strong technology base and important links with industry, complemented
by a number of innovative specialist research centres which attract
a great deal of international interest. IRIS is Australias
leading organisation for applied research and technology diffusion
to industry. Creative researchers providing innovative solutions
to entrepreneurial industries has always been the Institutes
mission. IRIS revenue is generated from contract research performed
for the mutual benefit of industry, government and society.
Monash
University
Monash is a global university with eight campuses
including one in Malaysia and one in South Africa. It is an energetic
and dynamic university committed to leading the way in higher education
and research. Monash's has a longstanding reputation for the quality
of its academic programs, research outcomes and community service.
The School
of Physics and Materials Engineering is a national leader in
research with a large number of postgraduate research students.
Its research interests range from cast alloys, ceramics, and condensed
matter physics to cosmology, polymers and medical imaging. The School
has well-equipped research centres in cast metals, polymers, advanced
materials, electron microscopy and microanalysis, and X-ray physics
and imaging.
The
University of Queensland
The University of Queensland (UQ) is one of Australias
premier learning and research institutions. The University of Queensland
is a comprehensive, research-intensive institution that operates
within, and measures itself against, a highly competitive and increasingly
focused international research environment. The School
of Engineering's strength is its strong connections between
research, industry and teaching and learning. Their academics are
at the forefront of research and teaching and learning in their
fields, with strong industry links. The school has extensive expertise
in the physical metallurgy and solidification of light alloys. This
is supported by excellent research facilities that include an experimental
foundry and a state-of-the-art electron microscopy centre.
